CUSTOM DRUMS
PHILOSOPHY
At UDRUM our philosophy is simple: use the industry's best components, throw in a ton of building experience and creativity to produce the finest drums around. UDRUM has learned a lot about building drums from producing them for the last 13 years. We have painstakingly gone over every detail to make sure that we are producing a high quality product, from the thickness of our shells to the way we cut and hand-polish our bearing edges or wrapping a drum to spraying a high gloss lacquered finish. No detail is too important or too insignificant. Paul Dickinson, who is the owner and builder at UDRUM, is an avid drummer and tech having played and teched for over 20 years. He has the opportunity to take the drums into a lot of different musical scenarios, whether the drums are live in front of thousands of people with a band like Silverstein or teching a recording session. Regardless, he is constantly trying to find ways of producing the right drum sound for every musical situation. Paul says, "It's the fact that playing drums as well as spending a lot of time with drummers/engineers/producers enables me to have the opportunity to try out different ideas in a practical situation to find out what sounds good and what doesn't." In the end it is the experience that counts in producing a great drum sound.

DRUM SHELLS - SUPERIOR QUALITY AND TONE
Over the years of producing drums, we have used every shell configuration and have found that an 8-ply shell combined with our polished bearing edge produces a full drum tone without distorting in the bottom end. Whether you play live or in the studio, Jazz or Heavy Rock, the drums will return everything you put in with a ton of response. 8-ply Maple Toms, and 8-ply Maple Bass Drums size availability: 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28. Also, 5, 6 or 10 ply shells are also available upon request with or without reinforcement rings.
Our standard snare is 10-ply Maple. However, they are also available in 5, 6, 8, 10, 20, 30 or any combination totaling no more than 50-plys.
These shells are made from one piece of wood that has been steam-bent into shape with reinforcement rings. Shells come in a wide range of domestic and exotic woods.
Our acrylic shells are 1/4" thick and come in a wide array of different colors. Acrylic is very responsive and it's tonal qaulity lies somewhere between metal and wood. Size availability is 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28.
Available in Black-plated (bottom-left) or Hand-Hammered (bottom-right).

Our hybrid shells contain sections of wood and acrylic bonded together. They are very unique in sound and appearance.
Our edges are precision cut and hand polished to give you a consistent edge with excellent response.

DRUM OPTIONS - THEY ARE WHAT YOU MAKE OF THEM!
Where do we begin? These days it seems that a great looking drum is just as important as a great sounding drum which has led us to become very creative. Whether you want a standard wrap, a kit covered in fur, satin stained or one of our spectacular high gloss hand painted kits - we will do it for you! It just takes your creativity and our ability to produce an incredible looking kit.
UDRUM has the pleasure of announcing that we have teamed up with Jim Chambers of Universal Artwork to create some of the drum industries finest finishes. Jim is one of Canada’s top artists/painters and has the ability to create anything. Give him an open canvas, or in this case - drum shells, and let him work his magic and you won't be disappointed. Any image, design, or concept, he can do it all!
We use 3 different lug designs: Teardrop, Vintage Clamshell, and Tube Lugs. Our tube lugs come in various sizes to create a different look for your drums. All of these lugs can be powder-coated with any color and can be off set 7/8 or 50%.

We use a heavy 2.3 mm hoop on all of our drums. You can upgrade to Diecast or Wood-hoops to create a unique look and sound for your drums.
We use the Gauger rim system as a standard on all of our drums. Gary Gauger invented the rims system many years ago and has since improved the quality immensely. There are other cheaper models on the market but we find that Gauger is the only system to leave all of the sound inside the drum.
GAUGER DYNAMOUNT -
This system enables the floor tom to sit in a cradle fully suspended. It puts all of the sound that is sometimes lost with standard floor tom legs back into the drum giving it a huge full sound.
This is the process where all of the metal parts on your drum are painted a different color allowing you to create a very unique looking drum.

We use the Dunnett R-Class throw-off standard on all of our drums.
